Hello and welcome to The Sunday Selfies!
Welcome one and all!
Now that's over I am pleased to announce that this week I have been toiling away mercilessly at doing some editing and writing a plot for my new book.
To help, I have also been reading a great new book on how to write, edit, get an agent etc. etc.
The book is by International acclaimed crime thriller writer, Harry Bingham, who happens to be the writer behind the worldwide writing group, Jericho Writers.
Each week Harry sends us a letter (post) about the ins and outs of a particular aspect or problem in writing. In fact, they are more than just posts, they are mini fun and informative adventures into the world of how to write. AND you don't have to be a member to get the weekly letters either.
I think any aspiring writer, be they feline, canine or human, or indeed anyone just interested in the mechanics of writing, would and should have this as a bedside read. Each of the fifty-two chapters is a mini masterclass.
You'll be pleased to know this is available through Amazon in paperback or e-book format.
Now if you would like to join JERICHO WRITERS and get a head start on your new career, follow this LINK.
In fact, you can see it in this week's selfie beside Mrs H's book of cross-words, or annoyed-words as I like to call them, which is often how she gets when she TRIES to do them, MOL.
So, without further ado, here is this week's educated and worn out selfie!
I should add that I am not being paid to mention the book or Jericho Writers, but Mrs H and I both think they are brilliant and well worth the money.
Well, that's it for this week. Whatever your preference, be it writer or reader, remember to stay safe out there, enjoy yourself, and take care to give yourself a good groom before and after each meal and nap.

Working one's brain or body is exhausting, Erin!
ReplyDeleteTell me about it. Just keeping Mrs H awake to finish a sentence some evenings can be a nightmare!

Erin Dad keeps threatening to write and we keep telling him there is too much cat work to do and he says that will be cat work and we... you get the idea. Love your side Selfie
ReplyDeleteI got Mrs H trained to do most of the hard work between my sessions of play. Truly surprising what can be written in 15 minute spells :) I do suggest you let your staff have a go as it can be great fun, if only trying to lay on the keyboard, MOL

Hmmm, I'm not sure I'd appreciate boots, but then again the UK is a very damp place in winter :)
DeleteAhh, but writing for pleasure is WAY WAY better than writing for work. Do try it and you'll find a whole new world ready to explore, and maybe an income too!

You look totally pooped out, Erin!
ReplyDeleteSure was! Still, a small price to pay for supervising a work of art in progress, MOL

ReplyDeleteThey say that sometimes "sleeping on it" is the best way to process a load of new information! And it also makes for a really cute selfie!
ReplyDeleteYou're exhausted from all that reading, Erin! Good luck with the book!
ReplyDeleteOh Princess! Of COURSE you are all 'zawsted having to help your Human solve the annoyedword puzzle and read up on all those writing tips. Really, you shouldn't have to think about all that--you should just daydream of catnip and toonas. XOXO
ReplyDeleteI was going to instruct Mom to print out Harry's helpful emails until I realized this book is out. Andy WOWY, I think I'll order one for Mom. Hmm . . . where did her wallet go off to . . . here wallet wallet. Where are you?
ReplyDeletePrincess, you may be all tuckered out from reading, but you always look fresh as a daisy . . . er . . . Tuxie daisy, to me. Kisses. -Your Prince
ERin, I'm worried you might be working too hard ...
ReplyDeleteWow, that sounds like just the book I need if I ever happen to write a book. Someday I would like to though.
ReplyDeleteI definitely recommend having a go at the book. Doesnt take long and fifteen minutes a day can be most rewarding and a great basis on which to build your work as an author. I wholly recommend that book, too, plus Harry's emails are free and fun and easy reading on a Friday afternoon, UK time. :) Stay well and enjoy yourself. I do hope things are going well at the Barn. We miss your updates on the blog.
