This week I have been doing roof inspection, and chimney examination. You just can't be too careful with these two areas, and time spent inspecting felt roofs, especially the expansion and contraction rates, is never wasted on a hot day, and can aid in the detection of holes that might cause a leak later in winter. As to the chimney, well let's just say that once Mrs H had finished polishing it – and before you ask I DID NOT send her up the inside – Mr Van Dyke could eat his cockles and mussels off it, inside and out. 😇
As a special treat, and because our post lady was on holiday and I couldn't wait for this months issue of the Tuxedo Tattler Magazine I was expecting, I allowed postman to deliver. I kept my eyes on him though, just in case he tried to slip a bill through the letter box at the same time, MOL
I hope you enjoyed these two shots from the palace roof now we are entering the last days of summer. Please do share how you have been spending yours?

We are waiting for summer here although I know many USA friends have had a very warm time of it!
ReplyDeleteNZ seems to have more balanced wather these days, though maybe more than your share of rain, MOL

Yes, this has been a hot one indeed around here.
ReplyDeleteYou guys in the states have had it a lot worse than we have, for sure. Here's hoping when the rains come that they are not torrential.
DeleteHave a lovely week
ERin
That is a lot of hard, and magnificent, work, Erin!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
Tama and Genji
Thank you. Lots of practice and grim determination will out, as you maybe can see from the grim look on my face ;) MOL

ReplyDeleteThank you, it is a hot spot in the summer, but horrid and wet in winter.
DeleteHave a cool refreshing week.

We have the same type of chimney for our woodburner so I know Mrs.H had to work very hard at polishing it. You worked equally hard overseeing her work.
ReplyDeleteThanks, supervising as well as checking is a serious business, MOL
DeleteHave a lovely week.

Well done, ERin! We love your selfies from the roof of the palace! XO
ReplyDeleteThanks, it is one of my fav places unless it gets really hot, or really cold. MOL

Excellent selfies, Erin. Are you really on the roof? That's pretty high up!
ReplyDeleteAh well it isn't too high a roof, just 6.5 feet. But high enough for fun and sunbathing . . . in between work that is MOL

Excellent selfies and and great inspector too. Way to go.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I try to keep busy and look good, not an easy task, but I feel I owe it to my staff to help them out.

It was a very summery day here in Essex, UK today.
ReplyDeleteNice roof selfies, Erin!
Not bad here either, but now rain and rain. More sun come mid week though, I think....

ERin
Ooh is there a Tortie Tattler magazine too?
ReplyDeleteI bet there is, but I haven't seen it locally, MOL

Princess, you're looking rather dreamy in your roof palace. As if you're looking back nostalgically at a certain time and place that you once knew. I wonder... because I am lamenting the last days of summer, I wish it could go on longer. So my friends and I are making the most of the last sun puddles. I hope you enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteThank you, and yes, I was. It has already started to rain so it seems like autumn is racing to meet us at the door.....

Erin we are looking forward to a little cooler weather here at our house. Very excellent job of inspection and of bill interception. At our Castle they seem to come in the email so are very difficult to quash
ReplyDeleteHmmm, that is a problem then re the mail. Maybe divert them all to another person?
DeleteHere's hoping you get the cool stuff for a bit. Here we had a warm day after a cool start, and set for a fewmore nice days too.

Both selfies are very nice ! Love especially the first one, looks a bit misterious !
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes itwas a bit deep and moody and mysterious— I think I may have heard a dog, or seen another feline moving in too close ;)

It's a good thing that Da Boyz cannot get out onto the roof at Eastside Cats...we'd never see them again...
ReplyDeleteOh my, then no way should roof climbing be allowed. Here is OK, as I sort of know the place, and keep to my patch, as do the other local miscreants, MOL

Nows, those are some FABulous shots from the Roof Palace Erin! Good job with the inspections and the snoopervisin' of Mrs. H and the polishin' of the chimney! And good work keepin' those bills outta the Palace! nasty things, them!
ReplyDeleteYou are lookin' most beautifuls ~ and I likes that last pic....no one would ever defy YOU! BOL!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Thanks, Ruby, I aim to get these jobs done asap, just in case we get nasty cold and snowy stuff come in.
DeleteThe last is my fav pic, too. Mrs H thinks in the first I am showing off my real lioness side, which I reckon I am — unfortunately NO wildemouses were roaming our place that day so I could show you the thrill of the chase and a long satisfied nap, MOL

I love Mary Poppins. I got that reference. We hope Mrs H appreciates all your hard work, ERin!
ReplyDeleteYay! First mention of Mrs P. Oh I think so, Mrs H and I get on well – I hunt the food and she unpacks it fromthe box, MOL
