This week I have been mainly getting WET.
No, before you ask, I have not been having my annual bath—that was last year.
And NO I also haven't been helping Mrs H do either the laundry or dishes—that job requires full rain suit and souwester, and mine happen to be at the laundrette being dry cleaned.
And, I wasn't caught in the deluge when Mrs H tried to unblock the sink U-bend in the gamekeeper's cottage.
How, you may ask, did she get wet?
Well, having removed the U-bend, she plugged the sink and ran the taps to flush the pipe. And then, my friends, she made the classic school girl mistake. A mistake, I have to say, I did warn her about . . . Well, I may have warned her about in my head.
Either way, she was warned. . . . of sorts.
Never one to pass up watching the DIY disaster channel, I set myself up on the stairs overlooking the said kitchen, complete with popcorn and a soda and settled down to watch the inevitable. When I say popcorn and soda, what I mean is Felix Crispies, and a Vineroot Beer. And as sure as mice squeak, she did it.
Yup, if you can see what's coming, then you were head, body and tail faster than Mrs H.
Forgetting she'd removed the U bend, she went under the self-same sink—now full of water—and prodded around with a screwdriver to clear the last vestige of gunk that seemed to be blocking the sink.
And that is where sense left the building, and gravity took over sending a sink full of gungy water pouring down and covering Mrs H, filling the cabinets and flooding the floor.
I would have said 'I told you so' to Mrs H, but the fact that I was laughing a lot—ok, too much—sort of made that a bit difficult.
To be fair, and in my defence, Mrs H has always told me it was bad manners to talk—and by extension to that—laugh, at another's misfortunes with one's mouth full. Rest assured once I calmed down, which was a while as Mrs H's splattered face had me breaking out in giggles for ages, I was able to safely resume my Felix treats and Beer.
Nope, I can safely say it was none of those things that got me wet.
What did get me was some inconsiderate rain in the middle of my night shift. Let me tell you, these things are not to be laughed at, for sure. I mean it's not as though I filled a sink and then pulled the plug on myself.
Of course, being a kind and generous sort, Mrs H got up at 1:42 AM and towelled me down with only a modicum of prompting. A wet paw and nose in the face work wonders for the heavy sleeper I can tell you.
That's all from this weeks selection of mishaps, but do remember that next week on Friday we will have the now-famous – Pet Photo Fails Blog Hop, hosted by Melissa's Mochas, Mysteries and Meows. Be there or be square as they said—allegedly, in the sixties. Apparently, Mrs H was there but didn't inhale, MOL.
Admittance is free, and all you need to do is bring your BEST or WORST fails (NO fail too small, or too large) and your giggle box.
Finally, here is my own selfie:-
Thank you for visiting, and we hope you'll enjoy not only my monochrome delights but also the hop...

OH MY what a todo! But get that sou'wester back asap as on Tuesday storm HUMBERTO will be barreling through our parishes, we're battening down the hatches today in preparation! Lovely selfie though! MOL XOX
ReplyDeleteHmmm, well I suspect my souwester won't wish to go out on Tuesday as there is a rerun of the best of the summer shipping forecasts on the radio— I mean everyone deserves to have a holiday, don't they? ;)

That is a beautiful selfie.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had very good entertainment laid on this week for your enjoyment.
It was good of Mrs.H to towel you down when you got caught in an unexpected shower.
Eric used to love getting wet. He would sit in the middle of the lawn and the heavier the rain the better he liked it. We should have known he was going to be odd like that because when we picked him and Flynn up after their neuters, the vet tech said he was acting strangely sitting in the water bowl!
Hmm, well I am not that brave, or strange, though I guess there are some days when the mood to do something like that takes all of us..... I am just hoping it's NOT Mrs H any time soon as the neighbours wont half talk, MOL

We're sorry for your mom, but we had to laugh by reading about her misfortune ! Getting wet is no fun though. Purrs
ReplyDeleteSure isn't though watching someone else get wet does ease the pain. ;)

Oh, plumbing disasters are the worst!!! That sure is a stunning selfie, though!
ReplyDeleteYes, I will not be offering her services unless it's to the fire brigade, MOL

You need an umbrella, Erin!
ReplyDeleteNo she says, though thinking on it, I would need Mrs H to come out with me to hold it, and that ain't going to happenthis side of summer.

Lovely selfie, Erin!
ReplyDeleteIt's no fun getting wet but you made us laugh!
Thanks, I shall pass it on to Mrs H and she will be most pleased, well probably. On second thoughts I won't tell her, MOL ;)

Poor Mrs. H! That does not sound like much fun, but maybe, just maybe, it was a wee bit fun to watch. How nice of her to towel you off after the rain, Erin!
ReplyDeleteYes, to think she could have hurt herself, or worse, slipped, or got a chill or infection and not been able to serve my suppers. Oh my, best I get a pro next time.

Icky! Plumbing is not for the faint of heart.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and no one should attempt such things without a phone, a credit card and most importantly a large bucket and the common sense not to fill a sink that has no pipe connected. Once you have those things it is easy, MOL

Oh, plumbing probs are NOT funs at ALL! They are Ma's worse nightmare! (wells, that, and running outta rootbeers! BOL!) That bein' said, sounds like Mrs. H and Ma are cut from the same cloth! hehehehee
ReplyDeleteNows, I do LOVES your way of wakin' her for the dry off! I do the same thingie! Though, it's just my wet snooter, and it's usually to gets her to take me out for my 3am yardie patrol!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
I admire your devotion to exercising you patrol work. If only I could get Mrs H to do mine for a change ;) I suspect your wet nose has a pro-rata effect that makes it superior to mine. What I lack in nose though I can make up for in damp fur and paws after I've had a night out ;)

Poor Mrs H! Sounds like something I would do! Laughing at DIY disaster channel. I watch that too!
ReplyDeleteDIY Diasters and DIY A&E would be a perfect combo (dependant on point of view and ones professional status). Maybe best leave it to the Pro's to do it at least they do it with insurance and can be sued, MOL

Yes, it's rood to laff at our humans, but seriously...that was way too funny! In fact, it's something our own humans would do. And have done. So highly entertaining! Awesome selfie, ERin!
ReplyDeleteIt does seem to be the human way of things. Surely it warrants a whole new sort of Olympic event? Of course it would necessitate a very secure remote arena away from population centres and many paramedics ;)
