GDPR. The Terms & Conditions of visiting this site.

GDPR

What it means for YOU and US, when you visit this personal, non-business, blog site.

Hello. You probably came to this page to check out our GDPR policy. There has been an awful lot of emails flying around and information in the news, world wide web, village hall WI meetings etc... about GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation policy) and how it affects businesses and their blogs/sites as well as the visitors to those sites.

And whilst we are not a business (this is a fun and personal blog) and do not sell anything, we are still caught by these rules to a degree, and must point folks to where data may be that others, who supply services that we use, and by default you as readers use when you visit this page. The GDPR came into force on 25th May 2018 (today), and applies to all visitors to a website, blog in the EU (European Union) as well as websites/blogs outside the EU that receive visitors from the EU. Nobody is exempt from this policy unless you actually have a site/blog that nobody can access, ever, and you don't visit anyone anywhere, ever!

Now you are probably wondering what a nice princess such as I has to do with all this? Well I was rather wondering that myself and asked Mrs Hudson. She tells me that whilst we at the Palace are part of the EU (and even if the UK leaves the EU) we will continue to receive visitors that come from the EU. So as such we, meaning me, Mrs H, and this little old blog (not forgetting the Kraken in the moat!) have to comply with the law and tell how we protect your data (if we have any) and your privacy, and thus NOT break any laws within the EU. Apparently throwing unwanted guests and their data into the moat to be eaten by the Kraken, and giving spammers fleas, ticks, lice and mange doesn't cut it any longer! Who knew?

Anyway, enough of the small talk, we have, with the help of the Bionic Basil Blog, analysed our blog and put together on this page our Policies for you to read.

Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. Usage of 3rd Party Service Providers

We have also checked with google and our 3rd party plug-ins to make sure that they're compliant with the new GDPR rulings :

G+ Networked Blogs Bloglovin Feedburner RSS & Email Subscription

If you follow us by any of the third party plugins mentioned above, you can go directly to their websites and opt out easily enough should you want to, alas we can't unfollow any of those for you.

If you're happy to continue to follow us by whatever means you do, then you basically have to do nothing, life goes on and nothing changes.

Google Analytics – 3rd party App

This site does NOW sadly have to use Google Analytics when we have to remove spammers, by blocking IP addresses and or the servers that host them (yup there are such firms that are happy to do that), and to thus get a true picture of reader numbers and country/state. But we do not store, rent, sell, or otherwise distribute in any way such data, nor do we use it for any other purpose than as set out above. Again, we have better things to do with our life.  Googles Privacy Policy can be found HERE.

GDPR Disclaimer:

This info has been put together after hours and hours of research. GDPR is not meant or intended to catch personal/social blogs and sites in a domestic environment, only business that have customer interactions and use personal data in a business way. If we have repeated ourselves at all above, and I guess we have, it is to reassure our readers that we do take things seriously, even though requirements do not require a personal blog to take action in this way.

There is no actual advice for simple bloggers like ourselves with regards the new GDPR but we believe that what we have meets fully the requirements of the GDPR, so far as it relates to this personal and NON business blog, it's content, and how our visitors interact with us, and we them, in a domestic environment.

The templates used above were from FREE sources only, but as Bionic Basil's P.A. was finishing up, they had a power-spike and the computer shut down unexpectedly, and unfortunately the browsing history was wiped and they couldn't find the web links again to add the requisite attributes.

So if these templates are from your website, please let us know and we'll add your attribute with pleasure, and we can't thank you enough for creating them - THANK YOU!
