An Inspector (of roofs) Calls!

Hello and welcome to The Sunday Selfies!

This week I have been doing roof inspection, and chimney examination. You just can't be too careful with these two areas, and time spent inspecting felt roofs, especially the expansion and contraction rates, is never wasted on a hot day, and can aid in the detection of holes that might cause a leak later in winter. As to the chimney, well let's just say that once Mrs H had finished polishing it – and before you ask I DID NOT send her up the inside – Mr Van Dyke could eat his cockles and mussels off it, inside and out. 😇

As a special treat, and because our post lady was on holiday and I couldn't wait for this months issue of the Tuxedo Tattler Magazine I was expecting, I allowed postman to deliver. I kept my eyes on him though, just in case he tried to slip a bill through the letter box at the same time, MOL

I hope you enjoyed these two shots from the palace roof now we are entering the last days of summer. Please do share how you have been spending yours?

Festival Feline

Hello and welcome to The Sunday Selfies!

This week Mrs H was attending, on my behalf, the Festival of Writing, in York, England. We joined the Jericho Writers group – an international writers group – last year, and have found it an excellent resource, for aspiring and newer writers. They offer professional editorial and critiquing services, as well as an abundance of free info, and courses. The Writers Festival, held at The University of York, is a three-day event packed full of lectures and presentations, all geared up to help writers write better, and get published too.

Having set off Thursday morning, the cycle ride to York – some 100 miles away – was a little fraught, what with all the juggernauts and road fumes. But she did make it just in time Saturday morning, and after sprucing herself up and wiping off the diesel and road muck, was allowed in. All being well they will let her out again too. As it is all downhill, and we are expecting a tailwind, paws crossed she may be home Sunday night.

I have released Mrs H on the basis that she talks to as many agents as possible whilst there, and brings me back at least one present, a mouse, a Yorkshire cream sample, and a book deal. . . . . not necessarily in that order, MOL

In this week's selfie, I can be seen looking for York. Mrs H said it was "Up North", so I have been diligently looking North with a hope of seeing Mrs H coming back to prepare supper. I guess I will have a little while to wait, but it is a task I feel I am more than up for. . . . .
