An Adventure Book Review by Erin the Literary Cat©, International Book Reviewer.
Hello, and welcome to my latest Book Review featuring this week a Adventure in Middle Grade Fiction. Plus there is my Super Sunday Selfie!
Without further ado, and with my trusty housekeeper, Mrs H, dampening down the fires caused by over doing the sherry on the sponge pudding, lets get on with another amazing and heroic tale . . . .

SPOILER ALERT
Some as to plot direction and characters.
Thank you to...
We are exceedingly grateful to Graeme from Graeme Williams Marketing and UCLan Publishers for offering us a chance to Read & Review this story.
As ever, our views are our own, and we only share reviews of books we have bought, received as gifts, or received in exchange for an impartial review.
First and foremost, the books we review are those we select to read, like, and feel our global readers deserve to know about and that we hope they, their family, friends and students will enjoy.
The plot
When Flare and Glimmer, two young and naughty dragons collide after some aeriel hi-jinks, they accidentally set fire to The Witchy Wood. It then falls to firefighting unicorn, Blaze, and her smart and cheeky fire engine called Quench, race to the scene and save the witches and creatures that live there.
So, what did we think?
What a marvellous way to introduce action, adventure and peril into a youngsters reading world. Plus, with careful cleverly placed advice as to what to do in case of a fire emergency, this book is sure to enthral and educate.
We loved the full colour, inside and out. The artwork is exciting bright, bold and up to date for what kids get to see on TV and elsewhere. A lovely additional touch is the added extras at the end of the book. We found a quiz and information of what is inside a fire engine.
The book is also diverse. The cast of characters isn't just unicorns, but includes a narwhal because it has a horn too, and an honorary unicorn in the shape of a zebra who as the paramedic is loved by all. We thought that was a lovely touch. The vehicles all seem to have characters of their own, too.
So . . . .
Crunch time.
Brilliantly written and illustrated adventure that will be fun for readers venturing into chapter books. It is the perfect length and nice to handle with thicker pages and smaller size. The perfect read for parents and family to share at bedtime or journeys.
With a series of books in the offing, this will be a lovely set for a young reader to collect.

That sounds like a good book, Erin. And now I'm going to join you in a snoozy day. ~Murphy
ReplyDeleteVery appropriate, considering all those horrid fires in California. But, as always, your photo is the best bit, Erin!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Princess ERin, that was an exhausting and adventurous book. No wonder you now need a bit of a snooze. Too much excitement makes Precious want to hide her eyes and sleep too. Happy Sunday. We hope you are warm there. We've been so cold with frozen white snow on the ground fur weeks now, even though it is not really deep.
ReplyDeleteERin you are 100% Princess of Selfies...thank you for the review
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
