Hello, and welcome to the latest Sunday selfie from the Chumley & Hudson Investigation Team!
Well, I am not sure about you all, but I am fed up of the heat. Another week of soil baking and crop wilting temps have meant that harvests have been brought forwards for fear that wild fires might consume them before the combines can get to them. There was talk of hand scything the crops to minimising the risk. This idea was quickly dismissed as, quite frankly, giving villagers lethally sharp implements so soon after the village fete judging (which left a lot of animosity) was deemed to be far too risky.
I have spent most of my days hiding anywhere other than where anyone can take a picture of me for the selfies. Mr Minstrel, however, has been only to happy to come and stay, and without fail has been taking up the guard position on the sofa in old Ned's cottage. The fact that AC unit is directly above and the food bowls below, might have something to do with this. In any event, as he didn't even bat an eyelid when asked if he minded doing the selfies, he has been volunteered.
His pose and chilled smile, bordering on ecstasy if you ask me, pretty much sums up how welcome a cool breeze is these days.
We are joining the Sunday selfies, hosted by the wonderful Kitties Blue and their mum, Janet Blue, from the Cat on My Head blog in America. Click this sentence to visit Janet Blue's site. Or copy and paste this link: https://thecatonmyhead.com/

It has been ridiculously hot in our little corner of France too. We have been promised relief from the middle of next week. We can't wait!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Rest assured it wont be long after the first deluge that folks will be moaning, and flooding will take hold. But until then we will be dancing when the rains come...
DeleteERin
Our temp in the Tampa Bay area will be 96 but the feels-like temp will be around 110. Not exactly pleasant.
ReplyDeleteThat cant be nice at all with the humidity you get. AC toning things down must be so helpful over there right about now.

Your heat is just been an ongoing issue hasn't it. I'm thankful to say that our heat lasted about 6 weeks, and now it's just the normal regular hot and sweaty weather. But we have had rain here which is unbelievable in august. Some places in my home state are actually flooded completely. People have lost their houses because of the high water. Who knows what fall winter will bring. Stay safe and as cool as you can.
ReplyDeleteWe in UK are on about 14 weeks of extra hot and dry weather. But thankful that it isn't as bad as central Europe and Africa. Hopefully everyone, all the creatures, will find relief from sun and rain soon.

Mr. Minstrel does, indeed, look very, very happy. A lovely selfie, indeed. Does he know he has been "volunteered"?
ReplyDeleteMr. Minstrel knows how to make himself comfortable!
ReplyDeleteWhile our temps haven't staying in the hellish range, we have high humidity and dicey air quality.
Lots of dryness everywhere, while storms continue to route south of us.
What's a human to do, but lay around, reading, with napping cats draped here and there?
Princess ERin we are way over it here too
ReplyDeleteNext 5 days we have feels like temps in Triple Digits.
Hugs Cecilia
Lovely selfie! It really needs to rain. Everything is so dry. And here in the UK most homes are not built for such hot weather.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true, and here in Upper Much-Mousing, folks are starting to white wash their homes to match foreign climbs. A little too late I fear ....

Dearest Erin,
ReplyDeleteVery nice selfie....but it is NOT YOU!!!
I, Marvelous, have survived a most undignified ordeal. First, the heat tried to melt me into a decorative puddle on the deck. Then, because the universe enjoys a good joke, a thunderous downpour exploded right over my royal head. One moment I was dusted like a powdered donut, the next I was a mud‑soaked comet streaking through the bushes toward home.
I arrived at the cat door, heroic and dripping… only to find it CLOSED., I unleashed my most operatic yowls until Mom opened it. I slithered inside, flopped onto the dog bed (my throne in times of crisis), and spent fifteen full minutes licking mud, rain, and indignity out of my magnificent coat.
And the moment, the exact moment, I finished restoring my royal fluff? The rain stopped. The sun came out. And the mice began dancing in the puddles like a taunting chorus line. I could only stare, regal and betrayed, knowing there was no way to get at them. Such is the life of a king.
I feel your pain Erin! I shall look forward to your next adventure! Purrhaps an ocean voyage is in order....Your #1 Fan Boy, Marvelous
